Integration of Electroactive Polymer

Electroactive polymers (EAPs) are materials that change their shape or size in response to electrical stimuli. This class of materials is therefore a good candidate for actuators in the field of medical devices, soft manipulators and biomimetics. Recent years have shown some significant efforts to associate electronically (as electrodes) and ionically (as electrolyte) conductive polymer materials in new actuators.

Micro actuators are composed of three layers, two PEDOT electrodes which enclosed an Inter Penetrating Network (IPN). Microsystem fabrication technologies are used to shape micro beams.
